During the painful act of assassination which targeted Wesam Al Hasan on October 19th 2012, Wesam Al Hasan who is a martyr of Lebanon, it was pretty obvious that the goal was to increase the conflicts between the Sunnis and the Shiaas, as well as plant more divisions in order for this country to enter a bigger dilemma in which its people hate each other even more.
Even though a lot of individuals went out to the streets, some committing sabotaging acts and stopping people from maintaining their normal lives, yet these were only individual acts and individual opinions which cannot be generalized.
Though it seems that the criminal has achieved his goal by having Lebanese people commit ugly acts and point fingers at each other, yet I must admit that inside our houses, we were different.
It is true that divisions were taken out on the streets, yet we cannot neglect the fact that wise young men and women understood that what was happening was not acceptable, and that they had to stick together.
People of different sects hated and condemned the crime, and the same house was a shelter for both Sunnis and Shiaas, without thinking or considering each other as enemies or hated ones.
What happened was an action of anger, and basically did not take the country’s best interest into consideration, but still the other face showed more sympathy, and people became pretty closer to each other because everyone of every sect condemned the assassination.
Lebanese people refused for the hidden agenda of the criminal to be applied, and despite all their differences, a lot of people stuck together and did not approve to drag this country to another civil war and a bigger division. These people refused the media deviations which each took their own point of view, and were angry yet calm enough to mourn the assassinated one peacefully, and give him the respect he deserves.
